In Collaboration With
Sija Hong
Illustrator
Description
Sija Hong is an award-winning illustrator born in China and currently based in the USA. In this episode we present her collaboration with The Macallan to create Litha.
‘Litha’ means light and was the name that the Celts gave to the summer solstice. Sija Hong is an artist and a colour dreamer and this piece represents the solstice as a tipping point. When two forces meet for the first time, there is power – a first encounter that changes everything eternally. The summer solstice brings longer days and new life, and countless cultures have celebrated it since antiquity. We present Sija and her artwork as a vibrant testament to the fusion of Scottish and Spanish essences. The episode also depicts how Sija has meticulously chosen two bold palettes that mirror the cultural dialogue between these two worlds.
